High School (9th - 12th)
EXOTHERMIC ROBOTICS
Overview:
The Exothermic Robotics Division is designed for high school students under the age of 19 by May 1st. This division challenges advanced learners with opportunities to engage in complex robotics design, build, programming. Teams will compete both regionally and internationally through the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC).
Key Features:
Students in this division take on significant responsibilities in designing and building robots, emphasizing student-led initiatives and advanced problem-solving skills. The focus is on mastering the technical aspects of robotics, including mechanical and electronic engineering, advanced programming, and engineering process documentation.
Educational Outcomes:
Participants will develop:
Advanced technical skills in mechanical and electronic engineering, C++ programming, AI, and CAD design.
Comprehensive understanding of the engineering design process and documentation.
Leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in teams.
Structure and Schedule:
Regular Season: September to March.
Early Season: June to August.
Post Season: March to May.
Teams meet at least twice a week, focusing on guided design and build activities, programming, and maintaining an engineering notebook.
Support and Resources:
Each team is paired with dedicated adult mentors, and students have access to structured seminars and clinics to bolster their learning.
